What Is an Other Service Provider (OSP) License?
A business entity offering application services such as telemedicine, tele-education, tele-trading, call centre, e-commerce, network operation, and other IT enabled services is called the Other Service Provider (OSP). The OSP registration is obtained from the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Government of India. The entities entitled to OSP registration must be a company registered under the Companies Act, 2013. There are 2 types of OSPs prevailing in India
- Domestic OSP- An OSP that provides application services inside the national boundaries
- International OSP- An OSP that provides application services beyond the national boundaries.
What Is the OSP Registration Procedure in India?
The registration of OSPs is done by the respective Telecom Enforcement Resource and Monitoring (TERM) Cells (formerly known as VTM Cells) under the Department of Telecom (DoT), having jurisdiction in the location of the OSP/telemarketing centre. OSP Registration Compliance
To maintain the OSP registration compliance, an OSP must submit an ‘Annual Return’ to the DOT within 6 months after completion of a given financial year. The return should mention the present status and the activities of the OSP.
