What Is a GST Consent Letter or NOC?

If they do not have a recognised commercial place of business, many businesses operate from home. The location where the work is being done is owned by someone, a proof of ownership from the taxpayer must be supplied at the time of registration.

A valid rent/lease agreement must be uploaded if the property is rented. When uploading their proof of the location of the business, taxpayers who do not own or rent the property must also include a consent letter.

It is a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the property owner confirming that he has no issues with the taxpayer using the space to conduct business. The consent letter does not have a particular structure under GST. Any format is acceptable.

Who Is Required to Sign the Consent Form?

A consent letter needs to be signed by the property owner. A consent letter on stamp paper may be requested by GST officers in particular circumstances, and it must also be notarised. The consent letter can, however, be uploaded without being printed on stamp paper. The taxpayer can take the necessary steps if a GST officer specifically requests that the content letter be printed on stamp paper.
