FAQs
The MSME sector in Nagaland, primarily driven by agriculture, handloom, and handicrafts, faces challenges related to infrastructure and market access due to its remote location. However, the state government's initiatives, like the Nagaland Startup Policy, are fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, offering potential for sustainable growth and economic development in the region.
MSME registration in Nagaland is a simplified process designed to empower micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises operating in the region. To register, businesses can visit our portal and provide essential details such as Aadhar and PAN information, business classification, and investment in plant and machinery or equipment.
Once registered, MSMEs in Nagaland gain access to various state-specific incentives and benefits, including subsidies for land acquisition, power tariffs, and tax exemptions. The streamlined registration process reflects Nagaland's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, encouraging economic development, and creating a conducive environment for the growth of MSMEs in the union territory.
Access to Unsecured Bank Loans
Under the initiatives of the Indian government, small and microbusinesses can now secure loans without the need for collateral. This program facilitates the application for business loans and acquisition of capital by micro and small enterprises. It benefits both new and existing businesses. The Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises, established by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), offers these collateral-free loans.
Reduced Interest Rates for MSMEs
Compared to other businesses, MSME registered enterprises enjoy a lower interest rate. The MSME sector maintains priority credit status, ensuring that banks provide loans to MSMEs at a favorable interest rate. There is a target of increasing credit to micro and small businesses by 20% over the next two years. The number of micro-enterprises is growing at a rate of 10% annually, with at least 60% of the bank's total lending dedicated to the MSME sector.
Protection Against Delayed Payments
When customers purchase goods or services from registered MSMEs, they are obligated to make payments on or before the agreed-upon date or within 15 days of receiving the ordered items. If payment is delayed beyond 45 days after accepting the products or services, the buyer is liable to pay interest at a rate three times the official rate of the Reserve Bank of India. This benefit of MSME registration helps protect businesses from payment delays.
Subsidy for Patent Registration
Enterprises holding MSME registration certificate are eligible for a substantial 50% subsidy, capped at 15 lakh INR per invention, for patent registration. This subsidy can be obtained by submitting an application to the relevant ministry.
