• 3. Basic Registration

  Food business operators involved in small food businesses and small-sized companies, accommodation units, transporters, retailers, marketers, publishers, etc., are required to get the food registration online issued by the state government.

How to register/renew Food License in Nagaland

It is mandatory to acquire an FSSAI license before starting a business. It is the foremost license an FBO needs before other business-related licenses.

The following steps are followed while registering for a food license in Nagaland.

• Step 1: Visit the food safety officer to get Form A or B. It will be based on your annual turnover. Depending on the qualification criteria of your food business, you can apply in form B to the concerned central licensing authority.
• Step 2: You must add a self-attested declaration necessary to abide by the Food Safety and Standards Act's rules.
• Step 3: The respective authorities for FSSAI License renewal will inspect your food business and documents.
• Step 4: The licensing officials shall issue the FSSAI License renewal within 60 days
• Step 5: If,from the date of receiving your application, an FSSAI License renewal is not declared within 60 days, or the candidate has not received any intimation in this respect, the candidate may initiate their food business without waiting for other information.

Consequences of Not Getting an FSSAI License

• A corporation that sells food of poor quality may be subject to a fine of up to Rs. 5 lakhs. And whoever was in charge of selling, whether it was him or someone acting on his behalf, would be held accountable.
• Organisations that sell, package, store, distribute, or import food items containing unusual or unusual substances may be subject to a fine of 1 lakh.
• Companies who neglect to apply for or renew their FSSAI license risk losing their current clientele, ultimately impeding their long-term growth plans and earnings.
• The expansion of your business and your capacity to get government contracts could be significantly hampered by not having an FSSAI license.
• According to Chapter 9 of the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, penalties could be imposed on anyone who gives inaccurate, deceptive, or false information. It carries a maximum fine of two lakh rupees and a maximum sentence of three months in jail.

The following documents are required for food license registration:

• Business operator’s photograph (Multiple copies recommended)
• Premise Possession Confirmation Evidence
• MoA/ AoA/ Certificate of Incorporation/ Partnership Deed.
• Product list details (manufactured/processed/stored food list).
• Drafted plan for food safety management system.
• Copy of NOC by Municipality or Panchayat
• Copy of your identification proofs like PAN card, passport, driving license, or Aadhar card
• Bank account statement
• Food safety management strategy
• FSMS Certificate
• Form-B in case of State/Central license. (Signed and completely furnished)
• Signed and completely furnished Form-A. (This is in case of registration only).
• Details of the nominated person in the place of a business owner or for any other authorised position.
• Payment of the fee is included.
