The password contains eight characters and helps prevent your Aadhaar details from falling into the wrong hands. Your name’s first four letters in the capital, followed by your year of birth serves as the password set by the government. For instance, if your name is Mahesh Rawat, and you were born in 1997, then your Aadhaar card password would be MAHE1997. In case your name is Anu Malik, and you were born in 1997, then the password would be ANUM1997. If your name contains initials, it considers it as a valid letter. For example, if your name is A.T. Mohan and your birth year is 1997, then your Aadhaar card password would be A.T.1997

How Can We Download the Aadhaar Card Online?

In case you want to download a copy of the e-Aadhaar, here’s what you need to do;

  1. Go to the official website of the UIDAI from this link.
  2. From the Personal Details section and choose an appropriate option between your Enrolment ID and Aadhaar number.
  3. In case you don’t have your enrolment ID, you can find it on the acknowledgement slip you received right after your Aadhaar registration.
  4. If you chose the enrolment ID option, input the 14-digit number and if you went ahead with the Aadhaar option, then enter your 12-digit unique Aadhaar ID.
  5. Next, enter your name as on the Aadhaar card and your PIN code.
  6. Next, input the relevant CAPTCHA code for verification along with your registered mobile number.
  7. After you click on the Get OTP button, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
  8. Input this into the required field on the Enter OTP and Download e-Aadhaar section.
  9. Click on Validate and Download to complete the process and download your copy of the e-Aadhaar PDF.

In case you are downloading the Aadhaar via a PC or laptop, you will need to undergo a face authentication process. You will have to activate your webcam and allow the system to authenticate your face before downloading the e-Aadhaar.

Opening the e-Aadhaar PDF after Downloading

Since your PDF is password protected, you will have to follow the steps given below to access your e-Aadhaar after downloading it. 

  1. You can try opening the PDF using two different methods.
  2. Initially, try entering the PIN code of your postal address in the password box.
  3. If that does not work, then input the first four letters of your name in the capital, followed by your year of birth. 
  4. Once you open the e-Aadhaar after verification, you can print the same to obtain a separate physical copy. 
  5. Also, since the password is a set combination, you will never have to worry about losing or forgetting it again!
