Get Instant PAN Card Through Aadhaar Now

Are you looking to apply for a PAN card? Well, you have great news coming your way!

The Honourable Finance Minister of India has fulfilled one of her Budget promises yesterday. She has officially launched the facility to allot instant PAN cards through Aadhaar-based KYC. If you have a valid Aadhaar number and have your mobile number registered with UIDAI, your PAN card will be issued on an almost real-time basis.

Although this facility was announced by the FM yesterday, the ‘Beta version’ of it has been on trial on the e-filing website of the Income Tax department since February. As announced by the IT Department on Twitter, this is a paperless facility and an applicant can be issued an e-PAN, free of cost, within just 10 minutes.

In her announcement, FM Nirmala Sitharaman said that this was a major step towards ensuring the inter-changeability of Aadhaar and PAN. Once fully implemented, it will ease the allotment process of PAN considerably. If an applicant is enrolled already with UIDAI, he will get his PAN without even filling up the detailed application form.

Eligibility to avail the instant PAN facility

The core requisites to avail the instant PAN facility are as follows-

  • You must own a valid Aadhaar number. Your Aadhaar should not have been linked any PAN before
  • Your Aadhaar must be linked to your mobile number registered with the UIDAI
  • You must not possess multiple PANs. Anyone found to have more than one PAN will be penalized as per Section 272 B (1) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
