The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a flagship housing scheme launched by the Government of India in 2015. The main objective of the PMAY scheme is to provide affordable housing for all by the year 2022. As of 2024, the PMAY scheme is expected to have achieved the following objectives:

Construction of Affordable Houses: The primary objective of the PMAY scheme is to construct affordable houses for the economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG) of the society. The scheme aims to construct around 2.95 crore houses by 2022.

Empowering Women: The PMAY scheme focuses on empowering women by providing them with equal rights to property and ownership of the house. Under the scheme, women are given preference in the allocation of housing.

Promoting Sustainable Development: The PMAY scheme aims to promote sustainable development by encouraging the use of eco-friendly and sustainable building materials and techniques in the construction of houses.

Boosting the Economy: The PMAY scheme aims to provide a boost to the economy by generating employment opportunities in the construction sector and related industries.

Facilitating Home Loan: The PMAY scheme provides financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries in the form of a subsidy on home loan interest rates or direct financial assistance. This helps in making the process of buying a house easier for the beneficiaries.

Overall, the PMAY scheme has been successful in achieving its objectives of providing affordable housing to the poor and empowering women. However, there is still a long way to go to ensure that everyone in India has access to safe and affordable housing. The government is expected to continue its efforts towards achieving this goal in the coming years.
