A new programme exclusively for farmers who have lost crops owing to natural catastrophes has been proposed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy.

YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy has proposed a new scheme designed specifically for farmers who have lost crops due to natural disasters. Every year in our country owing to natural catastrophes the farmers have to suffer crop losses. To solve the difficulties, the government has implemented the AP Free Crop Insurance scheme, which provides crop insurance to farmers.

YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme

Crop Insurance under this policy will reimburse farmers for crop losses caused by natural calamities. There will be about 22 crops that have been informed. This crop insurance will be supplied free of charge.Previously, farmers had to pay a significant price to benefit from the YSR Crop Insurance Scheme. Farmers can enroll in this scheme for as little as ₹ 1 under this scheme. Farmers who lost crops during Kharif 2020 will be compensated by the government.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy would deposit this money immediately into the bank accounts of the recipients. This claim will be worth ₹ 1820.23 crores, and it will help around 15 lakh farmers.

Total Amount to be Disbursed by AP Government into the Farmer’s Account

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy would distribute ₹885.45 crores to 404461 farmers in Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts through the YSR crop insurance plan. This sum was distributed during the chief minister’s visit to Chennekothapalli on June 14, 2022. This compensation is provided through the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and the state government’s crop insurance scheme. The government already announced a disbursement of ₹ 467.81 crores under this scheme to 3.35 lakh farmers in the Anandpur district on June 13, 2022. This sum was doubled.

According to the amended list, 171881 farmers in the Sri Sathya Sai district will receive ₹ 255.78 crores, while 232580 farmers in the Anantapur district will receive ₹ 629.77 crores. The farmers’ compensation was paid by December 31, 2020. These records are also available for social audit, and the government would enrol those farmers who are not on this list in Rythu Bharosa Kendra.
