Introduction:

The government implements a variety of projects to supply irrigation services. Borewells and open wells are drilled as part of these initiatives to provide irrigation. The Karnataka Government recently announced the Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme. The government will drill bore wells or open wells with pumps under this scheme.

Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme: 2022

Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme has been launched by the Karnataka Minority Development Corporation. Beneficiaries will receive irrigation facilities on agricultural property through this project by drilling bore wells or digging open wells, followed by the deployment of pump sets and accessories.

The government has given ₹1.50 lakhs and ₹3 lakhs for the individual borewell project. This sum will be used for borewell drilling, pump supply, and an electrification deposit of ₹50000. A ₹3.5 lakh subsidy will be offered to the districts of Bangalore urban, Bengaluru rural, Ramanagara Kolar, Chikkaballapur, and Tumkur.

A subsidy of ₹2 lakhs would also be granted to the other districts. These amenities will be offered to farmer-owned properties from neighbouring rivers by drawing pipes from water sources and installing pump motors and accessories.

Construction of Borewell

The unit cost is fixed at ₹4 lakhs for up to 8 acres of land and ₹ 6 lacs for up to 15 acres of land. The entire cost under the system will be treated as a subsidy. The government intends to give farmers with appropriate irrigation facilities by utilising perennial sources of water or raising water via pipelines. This scheme will only be available to farmers who are members of minority groups and are small or marginal farmers.

If perennial water sources are not accessible, the organisation will make loans to individuals to build bore wells on water spots. The corporation would pay a total of ₹1.5 lakh for the building of a bore well to encourage agricultural activity.
