YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus Scheme

The state of AP has launched a sizable number of programmes and plans for the welfare of various societal groups. Read this blog to learn about the YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus Scheme.

Overview

On September 1st, 2020, the Andhra Pradesh government planned to launch the YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus Scheme and the YSR Sampoorna Poshana Scheme. These schemes aim to provide nourishing meals to pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years.

Anganwadis from BPL families enrol children, pregnant mothers, and nursing women as part of this programme so that they can receive nourishing meals through the Anganwadi Centers. This programme has been put into place in the state to give extra nutritional meals and vitamins to all pregnant women, nursing mothers, and kids enrolled in 77 Scheduled & Tribal mandals. These Scheduled & Tribal Sub-Plan Mandals were dispersed throughout 7 ITDAs (Integrated Tribal Development Agencies) and 8 districts of the state.

In India, matriculation causes hundreds of pregnancies, lactations, and child deaths each year. The absence of a nourishing diet before and after childbirth causes millions of women to experience anaemia as well as other health problems.

In Andhra Pradesh, over 32% of young children suffer stunted growth as a result of poor nutrition, and over 50% of pregnant women experience anaemia.

Two significant programmes, YSR Sampoorna Poshana and YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus Scheme, were introduced by the State Government to address the serious problem of malnutrition among women and children.
