Requirements to Obtain a Driving License

The requirements to obtain a driving license in India vary depending on the type of vehicle one wishes to drive and the individual’s age. However, the general requirements to obtain a driving license in India are as follows:

  1. Age: The minimum age for obtaining a driving license in India is 16 years for a motorcycle with a gear and 18 years for a light motor vehicle.
  2. Learner’s License: Before obtaining a permanent driving license, an individual must first obtain a Learner’s License, which is valid for 6 months. To obtain a Learner’s License, an individual must pass a written test and a vision test.
  3. Driver Training: After obtaining a Learner’s License, an individual must undergo a specified amount of driver training, and must have the Learner’s License with them while driving.
  4. Permanent Driving License Test: After the training period, the individual must pass a driving test to obtain a permanent driving license. The test will assess the individual’s driving skills and knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.

Checking Driving License Status Online @parivahan.gov.in

  • At first, you need to go to the Parivahan Sewa website
  • On the homepage, find the Online Services tab and then choose the Driving License-Related Services option. 
  • When a new page appears, pick the state from where you want to avail the service. 
  • This will bring up the transport department page of the specified state
  • Finally, click on the Application Status option to open a new page.   
  • Enter your Application Number and Date of Birth, then type in the Captcha code. Hit the Submit button to follow up on your driving license status.  

How to Track RC Status through the Vehicle Number

  • To trace the RC Status through the Vehicle Number, one must first go to the official website of parivahan Sewa 
  • The homepage will appear on the screen. 
  • Under the Informational Services tab, select the option labelled ‘Know your vehicle details’. This will open a new page.   
  • Once you enter your registered phone number, a new page will appear. Input your car’s number and the captcha code.
  •  Then hit the Search Vehicle button, and all the details about the RC will be shown

How to Track RC Status through the Application Number

  • Initially, visit the Parivahan Sewa website. 
  • The homepage should then be visible. 
  • Subsequently, select the Vehicle-Related Services option on the Online Services tab.
  • From the drop-down menu, pick the applicable state.
  •  Upon doing so, the transport department page of the chosen state will appear.
  •  Enter the registration number under the Vehicle Registration Number tab and press the Proceed button. 
  • Afterwards, go to the Status tab and select ‘Know your application status’ from the drop-down. 
  • Enter the application number and finally click the view report button to verify the RC status.

Checking Driving License Services

  • Initially, go to the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, The Government of India.
  • On the homepage, pick the state you require, then click on the Driving License link.
  • When on the new page, choose the Services on DL option and read the directions carefully before clicking on continue. 
  • Afterwards, enter all the requested information such as DL Number, Category of DL Holder, DOB, State, etc. and click the submit button to check your checking driving license status services.
