Borewells are expensive and there is not enough water supplies for all farmers, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh has announced a new scheme to help them

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has introduced a new initiative to assist all farmers who are unable to obtain enough water supplies due to the high cost of borewells and the scarcity of water resources. In today’s article, we will provide you with information regarding the new initiative announced by Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister. For the year 2021, the scheme will be known as the AP YSR Jala Kala Scheme.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh State, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, has launched the YSR Jala Kala Scheme on the date of 28 September 2020. The scheme will be very good because it will provide free-of-cost borewells for all of the ranches of the Andhra Pradesh state.

A lot of farmers highly depend upon the natural water resources for their irrigation of the field but because there are high draught statistics it is not possible for the farmers to use the natural groundwater resources for their irrigation. Borewells will provide to all of the farmers free of cost so that they can continue their practices and their income will also increase because of the large crop.

Objectives of The Scheme

CM met ranchers throughout the 3,648-kilometer padayatra. Ranchers’ pastures were parched due to a lack of water sources. They explained how penetrating borewells were driving them into debt. After witnessing their plight, Jagan resolved to provide borewells to ranchers with highland fields. He recalled the equal for the YSRC’s nine promises made before the elections. Ranchers who meet the qualifications can apply online or through the municipal secretariats. Following hydrogeological and geophysical studies, the applications will be evaluated. When the request is submitted, the specialist group will assess the ground water and release the monotonous contractual worker for digging bores in that area.

New Amendments which are made in this Scheme

Under this initiative, the government has committed to dig 2 lakh borewells for farmers at no cost in order to provide them with irrigation amenities. The government began construction on drilling the borewell on 10 November 2020. This plan is now available to all qualifying farmers.

Advantages of this Scheme

YSR Jala Kala, which is estimated to cost ₹2,340 crorse over four years, will benefit around three lakh farmers. The administration wants to drill roughly two lakh borewells to provide groundwater waterways to highland ranchers and those living in dry areas, based on the access and depth of the water table. A rancher or group of ranchers with 2.5 to 5 sections of land can enroll for the plan. Ranchers will also receive instant updates on the progress of their applications at every phase in their enrolled mobile phone numbers. The plan would assist around 3 lakh farmers. The scheme’s irrigation water would offer 5 lakh acres of land and 2 lakh borewells.

Main Features of this Scheme

  • The Andhra Pradesh government would drill free borewells for all qualifying farmers in the state’s 13 districts under the AP YSR Jala Kala plan, therefore resolving the irrigation crisis.
  • Farmers can request for bore wells either online or in person.
  • The village secretariat and VRO will verify the applications before forwarding them to the appropriate APD / MPDO.
  • Following that, a drilling contractor will be assigned, who will undertake a groundwater survey. A trained geologist will perform this groundwater survey. Following that, a report will be made to the appropriate AP / MPDO.
  • The PD will get administrative permission from the district collector/JC.
  • Priority would be given to marginal and small-scale farmers as well as SC/ST/women farmers, under the AP YSR Jala Kala Scheme.
  • All farmers with a preexisting bore well and infectious land of 2.5 acres are eligible to apply for this initiative.
  • If a farmer lacks contaminated land of 2.5 acres, he or she can organise a group and request for a bore well under the AP YSR Jala Kala plan.
  • A groundwater survey will be performed at the borewell location prior to drilling.
  • All information about borewell sanction will be communicated to the applicants through SMS.
  • Following the completion of borewell drilling, the authorities will take a digital snapshot of the recipient with a geotag.
  • The depth of the borewell dug and the depth of the casing will be assessed by equipment under the AP YSR Jala Kala Scheme.
  • Payments to drilling contractors would be given based on the district’s predetermined success percentage.
  • The district collector will assist and direct stakeholders in the proper execution of the AP YSR Jala Kala programme.
  • A programme management unit would be established to ensure proper monitoring and execution of this plan.
  • A social audit will be conducted on all borewells drilled under the AP YSR Jala Kala programme.

Current Status of AP YSR Jala Kala Scheme

Drag wells will be discovered everywhere there are subsurface water resources. The experts would conduct a field study using hydrogeological and topographical maps to determine where borewells should be drilled. Consent for exposing bore wells should be obtained at the conclusion of the cycle. This AP YSR Jalakala Plan will ensure an adequate flow of water for the water system and will aid in improving ranchers’ wages. Each borewell discovered as part of the AP YSR Jala Kala Plan 2021 will be geotagged. Borewell digging would be undertaken deductively in order to protect nature. The reasonable procedures would ensure that subsurface water resources are not depleted.

Procedure for Implementation

  • Borewell locations will be identified deductively by leading groundwater overviews prior to beginning the piercing.
  • Ranchers who do not have a borewell and have a coterminous location with 2.5 pieces of property are eligible for the project.
  • Priority will also be given to minority ranchers.
  • Beneficiaries can apply either online or in person.
  • Boring contract workers will be required to lead groundwater reviews by enlisting trained geologists.
  • To begin construction, PD will also need to get administrative consent from the district collector.
  • After the borewell plan is completed, the authority will take an advanced photo with a geo-label with the receiver in the presence of a penetrating temporary worker.
  • The measurements for the borewell’s depth will go through the appropriate authorities.
  • If a borewell runs out of water, a second borewell will be dug if the authorities allow it.
  • The development of an energising pit/water harvesting structure will begin at the productive borewell location.
  • The contractors will be paid by the government.
  • District collectors will also help stakeholders through the scheme’s implementation.
  • Finally, this plan will pay benefits to the beneficiaries.
