Types of Food Licenses issued by FSSAI

FSSAI in India issues the following three types of license:

FSSAI Registration Central License

  • Companies operating as importers in the food business or export-oriented business, large manufacturers, operators in the Central Government Agencies, ports or airports, etc. need to have central licenses issued by FoSCos FSSAI

  • A company in a food business needs to have a license for the head office in case it is operational in different states or cities
  • This license is for the FBOs having an annual turnover of 20 crore

FSSAI Registration State License

  • The business must have an annual turnover of  2 lakh
  • The license is issued for 5 years and a minimum of 1 year

FSSAI Basic Registration Licence

  • This license is issued by the State Government and is given to small manufacturers, storage units, transporters, marketers, and distributors
  • The company has an annual turnover of  12 lakh
  • The license issuance for a period of 5 years and a minimum of 1 year

Steps of FSSAI Registration

  • FBOs need to submit Form A (basic registration and FBO has a turnover of less than  12 lakh) and Form B for FBOs having a turnover of less than  20 crore
