Smart Ration Card and Application Process

The government has begun issuing Smart Ration Cards due to technology and digitisation. It is the substitute for the traditional rationing process. This article will cover how to apply for a smart ration card and the application process.

The smart ration card is a substitute for the traditional ration card, which the government typically uses to provide food and other supplies to a particular class of citizens at a reduced rate. Converting to Smart Ration Card

The government has introduced a brand-new programme called the Smart Family Card Scheme that would allow all ration cards to be upgraded to smart ration cards.

Step 6: Select “Submit.”

The Submit option must be selected when all the required information has been entered, and the proper file formats have been uploaded.

Step 7: Getting a reference number is step seven.

The applicant will receive a reference number after submitting the form. This number is also used to check the ration card’s status.

Updating Smart Ration Cards

The processes required to update a smart ration card are as follows.

Step 1: Access the website online

The candidate must select their favourite language by going to the Tamil Nadu Public Distribution System’s official website at http://www.tnpds.gov.in.

Step 2: Select the Details Correction button.

The applicant must select the Correction of Details link found in the area labelled “Correct Your Smart Card.”

Step 3: Type in your registered mobile number.

To access the rectification form, the applicant must first input the registered mobile number to access the rectification form.

Step 4: Entering the OTP in Step 4

An OPT will be given to the mobile number, and the necessary adjustments can be made after entering the OTP.

Step 5: Attach the photo.

After filling out all the fields, the applicant must attach the family head member’s picture. PNG, GIF, JPEG, and JPG files under 10 KB can be used as the format. Once everything is finished, select Submit.

Step 6: Receiving a reference number is step six.

The applicant will receive a reference number after submitting the form. This number is also used to check the ration card’s status.

Track the Status of the Application

To monitor the progress of your application for the Ration Card list in Tamil Nadu for the year 2023, adhere to the steps outlined below:

  1. Visit the official website dedicated to Ration Card services.
  2. On the webpage, complete the form by providing the following details:

Time Required for Smart Ration Card

However, for applications involving changes or corrections, you can collect the card from the ESevai centre after approval from the official at your Taluk office.

Corrections in Smart Card

The following corrections can be made in the Tamil Nadu PDS Smart Card:

  1. Add/Update Family Head Details
  2. Add/Delete/Update Family Member Details
  3. Change Address

To make these changes:

  1. Visit the Tamil Nadu Public Distribution System website.
  2. Under ‘Smart Card Related Services,’ choose the appropriate option for corrections.
  3. Enter your 10-digit registered mobile number.
  4. Complete the Captcha field, submit, and enter the received One Time Password (OTP).
  5. Click on “Smart Card Details Edit” to make the necessary corrections.
  6. Upload scanned documents if required.
  7. Click “Submit for Approval” after completing all changes.

Lost Smart Card

For lost smart cards, replacement is possible at the nearest Esevai centre for Rs 30. The cardholder needs to provide the registered mobile number to receive an OTP for generating the new smart card.

Link Smart Card with Aadhaar

To link the Smart Card with Aadhaar, the user must submit a photograph of the family head, a photocopy of the Smart Card, and Aadhaar cards of all family members to the ration office through an Esevai centre. Acknowledgment will be sent via SMS or email, and the completion of the linking process will be notified through SMS.

Register Complaint

To register complaints:

Visit the Tamil Nadu Public Distribution System website.

Click on “Register a Complaint.”

Enter name, mobile number, email, and complaint details.

Click “Submit” to register the complaint.

Once registered, a “Complaint Number” will be provided for tracking the status.

Check Status Online

The applicant can monitor the status of their application online after submitting it. On the home page, select “Transparency Portal” from the menu to view the status. After that, select “Allocation Generation Status.” After providing your ration card information, the status of your allocation will be shown.

  • Families listed on the IRDP list for 1997–98 had annual incomes of up to  ₹15,000.
  • The family members should not be professional taxpayers, GST or income taxpayers, or otherwise eligible to pay such taxes.

  • The Government has agreed to temporarily provide BPL Ration Cards to all Vidi employees and all Pardhi and Kolhati members.
