Objective of the SC OBC Free Coaching Scheme

  1. The major goal of implementing the new coaching scheme for kids from the SC and OBC groups is to assist them in receiving the education that they deserve. Many students are unable to obtain a decent education because they are unable to afford the coaching fees and academic fees, thus the Government of India has developed a SC OBC Free Coaching Scheme to assist all students who are very ambitious in their studies but are trailing behind due to a lack of funds in their homes.
  2. The slots would be distributed as follows: 60% of the total available slots would be allocated to courses for which the qualifying exam is graduation (Bachelor’s level).
  3. 40% of total slots must be for courses with a Class 12 qualifying exam.
  4. Only kids from SCs and OBCs with a total family income of Rs. 8.00 lakh or less per year will be eligible for benefits under the OBC / SC free coaching plan. However, SC/OBC candidates from minority communities are not eligible for this plan and must apply through the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The income limit for SC/OBC students seeking free coaching has been increased from Rs. 6 lakh per annum to Rs. 8 lakh per annum. Additionally, the scheme now covers coaching for more exams, including the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for engineering.
