First Installment of the Vidya Deevena Scheme

Guidelines

The Guidelines for the Implementation of the program were released on 23 March by Chief Secretary Satish Chandra of the Higher Education Department of Andhra Pradesh. The guidelines provided by the department are as follows:

  • The State Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission’s announcement regarding the charge will serve as the foundation for the collection of fees in the institutions.
  • The government should set the only fees that can be charged to students.
  • The Aadhaar-linked Biometric Attendance system will now be used to track student, teacher, and non-teaching staff attendance.
  • If the student’s attendance is less than 75%, there will be no fee payment.
  • The public and private universities are not included by this system.
  • Students taking correspondence and distance learning courses are not eligible for the programme.
  • The management and NRI quota students are not eligible for this programme.

All universities and colleges are closed till 31 March due to the coronavirus. The state administration has determined that pupils who receive lunch at school would receive it brought to their homes during this nationwide lockdown. The district education officials and related agencies were also given a directive by the Andhra Pradesh State Government to set up distribution of rice, eggs, and peanut “chikkis” for the pupils. These food supplies will be given directly to the kids at their homes by village volunteers.
