Through this program around 50,000 youth will be imparted training over a period of 3 years through 75 Railway Training Institutes across India. Banaras Locomotive Works has been declared as the nodal agency for the implementation of this scheme. The course material and evaluation process has been developed for imparting training by Banaras Locomotive Works. Under this scheme, the selection of trainees is done through advertisement and shortlisting.
Training under Rail Kaushal Yojana will be provided in 4 trades which are Fitter, Welder, Machining and Electrician. In the coming time trades like instrumentation, singling related work, concrete mixing, road vending, concrete testing, electronic card replacement will also be added under this scheme. Under this scheme, training centers will be located in remote areas. This scheme will also contribute towards self-reliant India.
Under this scheme, 100 hours of training has been received by the first batch. After which a standardized assessment has been done for all the trainees and all those trainees who have been successful in getting the training have been awarded certificates.
