The CBDT has recently issued an order furnishing information about TDS Return Filing Status to Scheduled Commercial Banks.  Through this, banks or post offices can get the applicable rate of TDS under section 194N of the Income-tax Act, 1961 by entering the PAN of the person withdrawing cash.

If you’ve deducted tax at source, you need to pay this amount to the government by dates prescribed by the government on the NSDL website. This amount should be paid by the 7th of every month for the previous month (only the due date for March is April 30th). Payment can now be done online, via the NSDL website. Follow the steps below to complete online TDS return.

1. First click this link and select Challan – No ITNS 281 for TDS Payment.
2. Now is when you quote your TAN, which you need to deduct TDS in the first place.
3. On entering the TAN, you will be allowed to enter all other details in the challan, such as address, payment details, etc.
4. If you’re done submitting the details, confirm the challan and you will be moved to the payment gateway to make payment. Once payment is made successfully, the Challan Identification Number (CIN) will be shown, along with amount paid and the bank through which it was done.

E-file Your Income Tax Returns

Based on the CINs, you, as the assessee, should be issuing Form 16/Form 16A.
