Agriculture is vital to developing and highly populated countries like Bangladesh. Hence, the government has focused heavily on improving existing agricultural infrastructure. Now we will take a look at the challenges and opportunities of adopting organic farming in Bangladesh.

Challenges

  1. Rise in the frequency of natural disasters due to climate change
  2. Media campaigns emphasise the use of chemical fertilisers for better yields
  3. Chemical fertilisers and pesticides are more readily available

Opportunities

  2. Has suitable land and climate for year-round organic farming.
  3. Due to soil degradation, it will be easier to convince farmers regarding the need for a shift to organic farming.
  4. Further, contribute to creating sustainable socio-economic and ecological infrastructure
  5. Availability of sufficient labour at reasonable wages

Some of the most exported organic products in Bangladesh are cabbages, cucumbers, tomatoes, coriander Leaves, brinjals, and lady’s fingers.
