Our Authors

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has established a Tatkal Passport procedure to assist applicants in obtaining a passport more conveniently. Read this blog to know more.

Tatkal Passport

Tatkal plan provides passports quickly for emergency international travels. This was launched by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to expedite passport issuance.  Under the Tatkal scheme, eligible applicants can submit their passport application and supporting documents at their nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Passport Office. The key feature of the Tatkal service is its faster processing time, which aims to issue the passport within a shorter duration, usually between one to three working days, excluding the time taken for police verification.

It’s important to note that the Tatkal scheme is meant for genuine cases of urgency, such as medical emergencies, business travel, or unforeseen situations, where obtaining a passport quickly is necessary. It is not intended for regular passport applications and should not be misused.
