If you are a resident of Rajasthan and wish to get married under the Special Marriage law (1954), then you and your spouse must satisfy the below-mentioned criteria:

  • On the desired date of marriage solemnization, the groom has to be at least 21 years old. On the other hand, age of the bride cannot be under 18 years of age, if found to be otherwise then the marriage will be positively disapproved.
  • The Registrar Officer agrees to realize the marriage in either of the residencies of the bride or groom. The couple may also decide on a neutral solemnization place.
  • When you decide to marry under this Act, initially, you are notified by the court of a prospective marriage through a legal declaration. If no objection is raised by any party within one month starting from the date of initial notice then the marriage gets legal approval.

Registration Under Hindu Marriage Law

By going through the codes of conduct of the Hindu Marriage Law, you can conclude the following statements:

  • Marriage needs to be conducted following Hindu rituals
  • Both the groom and bride must belong from Hindu families
  • Under no means, marriage would be registered if the Registrar discovers that the groom is below 21 years or the bride’s age is less than 18 on the date of marriage.
  • The residence of both the bride and the groom along with the projected location for marriage hosting must fall under the Marriage Registrar’s jurisdiction. In other words, all of these locations must be situated within the territorial borders of Rajasthan.
