The scheme, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Teachers’ Day, 5 September 2022, received cabinet approval on 7 September 2022. On 19 February  2024, Chhattisgarh is set to launch the Pradhan Mantri School for Rising India (PM SHRI) Yojana. The inauguration event will witness the presence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai as chief guests. Aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, the Central Government aims to elevate 14,500 government schools nationwide through the PM SHRI Yojana. In its initial phase, 211 schools in Chhattisgarh, comprising 193 at the elementary level and 18 at the secondary level, have been selected for the upgrade. This initiative will provide students in these schools with access to information and communication technology (ICT), digital classrooms, and valuable internship and entrepreneurship opportunities facilitated through partnerships with local industries.
