These measurements have an impact not only on the economy but also on the well-being of individuals.

The Indus Valley civilization, also known as the Harappan civilization, is credited with developing the first accurate, standardized weights and measures system.

Some of these weights and measurements were as exact as 1.6 millimeters. Weights and measures were included in the Standards of Weights and Measures Act, which the Indian Parliament approved in December 1956.

The date of October 1, 1985, marked the beginning of the Act’s implementation into law.

Almost every person in India is a consumer, whether shopping for clothing, groceries, gasoline or something else. Because of measures, we can pay only for the services that we have got, which gives us peace of mind whenever we have to pay our bills for the utilities we use.
