How To Get A PAN Card For A Private Limited Company

A PAN card is an absolute necessity for a company as you cannot open a current account for your business without that. Read the step-by-step instructions given below to know how to get a PAN for your company.

Linking Aadhaar to PAN by 30th June 2023 will result in PAN becoming inoperative on 1st July 2023.

If you do not have a PAN card, you should get one sooner rather than later! In India, a private limited company must obtain a PAN after registering with the RoC (Registrar of Companies). You can also have your PAN application processed by filing the e-form NIC-29 along with your application for company registration.

Required Documents for PAN Card For a Private Limited Company

The following are the documents you need to furnish while applying for a PAN card for your private limited company:

For companies incorporated in India

  • Copy of the Certificate of Incorporation/registration issued by the Registrar of Companies (RoC)
  • Proof of address for the registered office of the company
  • A Demand Draft of the requisite fee (if the payment is made offline)

For companies incorporated abroad

  • Copy of the Certificate of Registration issued in the country of incorporation. The same needs to be attested by Apostille*/ Indian Embassy/ Consulate/ Indian High Commission/ authorized officials of branches of Scheduled Indian Banks located in the country of incorporation.

  • Copy of the Certificate of Registration issued in India, with the approval by Indian authorities to establish an office in India.
If you are a foreign company, you need to apostille all the documents you want to furnish along with your PAN card. The documents validated by an apostille are accepted by all the countries that are members of the Hague Convention (for Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents) of 1961. India is a member of this convention and is one of the signatories of the treaty. If your country is also one of the members, no further authorization of documents is required, after you get them apostilled.
