The Scheme of Ganga Kalyan: What Do You Need to Know?

  1. This is more of a scheme like irrigation made easy. In the given scheme, irrigation facilities are provided to agricultural lands spread over different states like Karnataka, where water is scarce. However, most of the experts from the related field feel that the small and tribal agricultural landlords deploy farmers, and such farmers are benefiting from the scheme.
  2. It is also essential to know that the scheme is provided for the benefit of small farmers and is subsidised by the state Government of Karnataka. Each unit cost includes the energy deployed to provide irrigation facilities to the agricultural land under consideration.
  3. The Karnataka Minority Development Corporation introduced the Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme in the recent past. The participants of this initiative will obtain irrigation facilities for farmland, which will then be furnished with pump sets and accessories, either drilling bore wells or digging open wells.
  4. The administration has allotted between ₹1.50 lakh and ₹3 lakh for each borewell project. Boreholes will be drilled, pumps will be supported, and ₹50,000 will be set aside for an electrification guarantee with this money. A ₹3.5 lakh subsidy would be given to the Ramanagara Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumkur, and Bangalore Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts.
  5. The other districts would also receive a stipend of ₹2 lakh. The farmer-owned properties on the nearby rivers will have access to these services by drawing pipes from water sources and installing pump engines and other machinery.

Borewell Construction Under The Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme

Up to 8 acres of land has a fixed unit cost of 4 lacs, and 15 acres of land costs 6 lacs. The total expenditure under the plan will be considered a subsidy. The government would offer farmers the proper irrigation facilities by using enduring water sources or by raising water via pipes.

Only small or marginal farmers and members of minority populations will be eligible to profit from this programme. If there are no permanent water sources, the corporation will lend money to private citizens to build bore wells on water spots. To support agricultural activities, the corporation would pay a total of 1.5 lakh for constructing a bore well.

Objective

By digging borewells, excavating open wells and putting in pump sets and accessories, the Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme’s main goal is to provide farmers with irrigation capabilities. Thanks to this plan, the farmers would have access to suitable irrigation canals.

Farmers no longer need to travel to government agencies to install bore wells. They can submit an online application for this programme, saving them a tonne of money and time and improving system transparency. Additionally, this plan will improve the overall quality of the crops.
