Who Needs to Sign The Consent Letter For GST?

Property owners need to sign a GST consent letter. In some instances, GST inspectors may ask for a letter of NOC on stamp paper; this letter must be notarized.  Authentication Of A Financial Institution Account:

  • One page of a bank statement or the first page of a passbook should be scanned.
  • The passbook’s first page bearing the proprietor’s or business’s name typically includes the account number, account holder’s name, international routing number (IFSC), and branch location.
  • GST Authorisation Letter Form – Authorization or a copy of the resolution from the Managing Committee or Board of Directors for each Authorized Signatory listed on the application form.

Step-by-Step Guide to the New Registration Form Completion

To complete the form, please use the taxpayer’s legal name as it appears on the company’s PAN. A Sole Proprietorship’s Legal Name and PAN should be the proprietor’s name. PAN has to be checked against the Income Tax database for accuracy.

Before proceeding to Part B of the application, please provide the principal authorized signatory’s email address and mobile phone number for verification and future communication. This information will be validated by a “One Time Password” issued independently.

If the business has a legal Signatory, the applicant must include a scanned copy of the declaration signed by the Owners, Partners, Managing Directors, full-time Directors, Members of Managing Committees of Associations, Board of Trustees, etc.

Provisions for Address Changes in the GST Document:

  • If your company’s main office is moving, you can easily file a GST Change of Address using the electronic form REG-14.
  • Remember that your old and new addresses should be in the same UT or State. This is because GST registration is mandatory across the entire state.
  • Cancelling your old registration and getting a new one in the state where you now reside is obligatory.
  • You must submit proof of your new address to change your GST registration successfully.
  • Address verification documents for Owned Premises can include a copy of the most recent Property Tax Receipt, a copy of the Municipal Tax, or a copy of the most recent Electricity Bill.
  • A copy of the most recent Property Tax Receipt, a copy of the Municipal Khata, a copy of the Electricity Bill, and a copy of the Rent and Lease Agreement, if the property is rented or leased.
  • In the absence of a rental or lease agreement, an affidavit to that effect and any other evidence of possession, such as a utility bill, is required.
  • Premises that do not fit the categories above: Documents attesting to the Consenter’s ownership, such as a copy of the Consenter’s municipal tax records or electric bill, should be included with the consent letter. Posting the same records for properties that are already connected is an acceptable practice.
  • Documents/certificates issued by the Government of India are required if the applicant operates primarily out of an SEZ or is a developer of one.

Step 2: While completing the registration form, choose ‘Consent’ under the nature of possession of premises if the business operates from a rented premise or the taxpayer utilizes a relative’s premises. Ensure that the owner of the premises signs the consent letter.

Step 3: Prepare the consent letter and save it in either PDF or JPEG format. Ensure that the file size does not exceed 1 MB.

Failure to Submit a Consent Letter
