How to Track PAN Card Status \ Correction status

PANs will become inoperative if they are not linked to Aadhaar by 31 March 2020, according to the IT Department. However, the Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for linking PANs and Aadhaars to March 31, 2020, in a notification dated December 30, 2019. Compared to the earlier deadline of December 31, 2019, this deadline has been extended by 3 months.

Aadhaar must be linked to PAN by 30 June 2023. Unless it is linked to Aadhaar by the 1 July 2023, PAN will become inoperative.

To apply for a new or duplicate PAN card, just get one and fill out the required forms. Form 49 A is available from three authorized websites: NSDL, e-Mudra, and UTI.   • After applying for PAN, you will receive an acknowledgment (if you apply through NSDL) a coupon number (through UTI) or a reference number (through e-Mudra).

The status of your PAN card online application can be known 5 to 7 days after one has submitted their application online. You need to ensure that you have the 15-digit coupon number with you (provided at the time of filling your request) before checking the status.

  2. Enter your 15-digit Application Coupon Number in the box provided.
  3. Click on the ‘Submit’ button and view your current PAN card status.

To track your PAN card application status, visit the official website of NSDL or UTIITSL, the two primary authorities for PAN card issuance. PAN Card Status Check on NSDL by Name

NSDL allows you to track your pan card status using your name and date of birth, 24 hours after the application is submitted. However, what you require is the 15-digit acknowledgment number to check the status of PAN Card

  1. Visit the NSDL portal: https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pantan/StatusTrack.html
  2. Enter your 15-digit acknowledgment number
  3. Enter your Name and Date of Birth details, in the prescribed format
  4. Click on ‘Submit” and check your PAN Card Status

If you have applied for a PAN CARD on the e-Mudra portal, then you will require the reference number to check your status.

  1. Visit the e-Mudra portal
  2. Enter your reference number, and date of birth and verify it through the automated system request.
  3. Click ‘Submit’ to check the status of your application.

Why is a PAN Card Necessary?

A PAN card is an essential document for all Indian citizens. However, the government has made it necessary for all financial transactions to be traced to a PAN Card. Alternatives to a PAN Card

There are certain transactions, where the requirement of filling the PAN card number can be done away with, provided Form 60 is filled.

Non-resident Indians (NRIs) can fill out Form 60 instead of PAN, as it is not mandatory for them to have PAN cards. However, it is useful to have a PAN Card. This is particularly true now that it is required even for regular financial transactions, including paying a restaurant bill of over  ₹ 25,000.
