MPTAX: Professional Tax Registration In Madhya Pradesh

The professionals and members are subject to the professional tax imposed by the State Government. The Madhya Pradesh State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings, and Employments Act of 1975 regulates the imposition and administration of professional tax in Madhya Pradesh(MPTAX).

MPTAX: Procedure for Obtaining Professional Tax in Madhya Pradesh

  1. Apply Form 1 within 30 days of becoming liable to pay the professional tax.
  2. The system will generate an acknowledgment with the date and time for attending the registration authority.
  3. Sign the application and submit it to the concerned professional tax registration authority.
  4. Upon receiving the signed application, the professional tax registration authority will provide registration in Form 1-A along with a TIN (Registration number under the profession tax act).

Who Is Eligible to Pay Professionals in MPTAX?

  • MPTAX: If your tax liability is over ₹50,000, file monthly returns before the last day of each month.
  • If your tax liability was less than ₹50,000 in the previous year, file an annual return by 31 March
  • You can file a revised return if you make a mistake.
