STARS Scheme 2024: Objective, Key Highlights and Benefits

Started on 24 June 2020, the STARS scheme is growing stronger! 250 million students, 10 million teachers and 1.5 million schools have benefited till today with the STARS scheme!

The Central Government has launched the STARS Scheme. The administration has set a goal of strengthening state teaching-learning and measurement through this channel. This project will be carried out through Centrally Sponsored Schemes. Under the STARS Yojana, a National Assessment Centre, PARAKH, will be established as an independent and autonomous institute. The Ministry of Education will be in charge of carrying out this scheme. The central government has allocated up to ₹5717 crores for the successful execution of STARS initiatives. The World Bank will additionally contribute ₹3700 crores to this total.

The central government has sanctioned the STARS scheme to fortify India’s education system, in response to the recent implementation of the Prime Minister’s new education policy. The scheme has been approved under the 2020 national education policy.

Objective of STARS Scheme
