Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana

One aspect of the agricultural sector that requires significant mechanisation and technology is irrigation. Ensuring that water reaches farm lands in a timely manner is extremely important to the yield of the crops. A little bit of delay and the entire produce can go bad. In the recent years there have been many reports of lack of rain in the right season causing drought in agricultural land.

The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana has been introduced specifically to address this problem. Under the Pradhanmantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana 2023, the central government has set aside an amount of Rs 50,000 crore under this scheme. Under this scheme, benefits will be provided to members of self-help groups, trusts, cooperative societies, incorporated companies, groups of productive farmers and members of other eligible institutions.

The main objective of starting this scheme is to provide subsidies on the purchase of irrigation equipment so that water can be available for irrigation of the fields. This scheme will also prove effective in increasing the income of the farmers. This scheme has been started keeping in mind the scarcity of water in different districts of the country. So that the quality of the crop can be ensured. Water will be provided to all the farms by the government through Har Khet Ko Pani Yojana. For which financial assistance will be provided by the Ministry of Command Area Development and Water Management. Using this financial assistance, irrigation facilities will be provided to the farmers so that water can reach their fields.

Conclusion

While this is indeed an excellent initiative in a critical sector of agriculture, its success can only be measured if the intended beneficiaries make use of it. Only then will we be able to notice the blind spots and shortfalls in the system and perfect it as we go along. So it is important to spread awareness regarding schemes like these to make the reach of the scheme wider.
