On this screen, you will find essential information such as the 14-digit acknowledgement number, applicant’s status, applicant’s name, payment details, signature space, and contact details.

Instructions for Filing Form 49B

  1. Blank sections are not permitted. Hence, the entire Form 49B must be duly filled.
  2. Tax payee must provide all his details without fail.
  3. Ensure the address provided in the Form is an Indian address.
  4. Entire form must be filled in BLOCK LETTERS in English.
  5. There must only be one character in each box for better clarity.
  6. If you have used your left thumbprint, it needs to be verified, sealed and signed by a Magistrate/ Notary/ Gazetted Officer.
  7. Deductors must supply details such as Range Code, Area code and AO Number from their respective TIN Facilitation Centre or IT Department Office.
  8. The processing fee must be paid to the corresponding TIN-Facilitation Centres.
  9. People who already have a TAN must not reapply, as it is illegal. But different branches of a company may opt for different TANS and can hence apply through Form 49B.
  10. To update your information, use the – Form for changes or corrections option by following the link embedded.
  11. The 14-digit code you receive as soon as you submit your application can be used to track the progress of your application.
  12. Only individuals can attest via thumb impression. All other applicants must sign the acknowledgement slip.
