What FSSAI Manages

FSSAI operates under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 and is tasked with regulating and establishing a robust system for monitoring Food Business Operators (FBOs). This includes the formulation of standards for food testing in India and the development of a standardized methodology that laboratories must adhere to.

Verify FSSAI Application Status

When you verify your application status, it will display based on the following phases:

Phase 1 – Application Processing Initiated

If you’ve recently applied for an FSSAI license, this status indicates that your application hasn’t commenced processing yet.

Phase 2 – Application Returned to Food Business Operator (FBO)

This status appears when your application has been sent back or reverted. If any modifications are required, you must provide a response within 30 days. Failure to do so will result in application rejection.

Phase 3 – Application Rejected

Your application will display this status if it has been rejected. As previously mentioned, failure to submit required information within the stipulated 30-day period will lead to automatic rejection.

Phase 4 – Inspection

This status is shown when an officer is designated to contact you for an inspection based on the evidence provided.

Phase 5 – Registration Certificate Issued

If all the premises you’ve submitted align with FSSAI guidelines and criteria, your application is accepted, and you’ll receive your FSSAI registration certificate.

Key Information in FSSAI Application Status

Tracking your FSSAI application is crucial, and it contains vital information such as License Category, Type of Application, Company Address, Application Date, Last Update Date, Application Status, and District Name.

Different FSSAI Application Statuses

FSSAI applications go through several stages, each with its own status:

Procedure not yet Started:

At this stage, your application has been submitted, but the authorities have not commenced the process of issuing the FSSAI Registration/License.

FSSAI Application Reverted:

When your application status reads ‘Application reverted,’ it means that authorities have reviewed your application and returned it to you for necessary changes or clarifications. Respond to these requests within 30 days to prevent rejection.

FSSAI Application Rejected:

‘Application rejected’ indicates that the authorities have denied your FSSAI Registration/License application, often due to missing information within the stipulated 30-day period after application reversion.

FSSAI Application Inspection:

When the status is ‘Inspection,’ authorities have taken over your application, and an inspection of your food premises or business is imminent to ensure compliance with FSSAI cleanliness and safety regulations.

FSSAI Registration/License Certificate is Issued:

‘Registration certificate issued’ signifies that you’ve been granted the FSSAI Registration/License certificate after verification that all provided information aligns with FSSAI standards. You can download this certificate from the FoSCoS website upon issuance.

Conclusion

Understanding the journey of your Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) application status is not just a procedural necessity but a strategic advantage for food business operators. FSSAI’s critical role in ensuring food safety and adherence to standards cannot be overstated. It safeguards consumers and maintains the integrity of the food supply chain.

Tracking your application status is a proactive step in this process. It provides insights into the progress of your application, allowing you to address concerns, make improvements, and take timely actions as needed. Whether it’s responding to requests for clarifications, preparing for inspections, or celebrating the successful issuance of your FSSAI Registration/License certificate, being informed is key.

FSSAI’s commitment to upholding food safety standards is mirrored in its application process. As a responsible Food Business Operator, staying engaged with the application status is an essential part of maintaining the integrity and quality of the food products you offer. By adhering to FSSAI norms and criteria, businesses not only meet regulatory requirements but also gain the trust and confidence of consumers, contributing to the overall health and safety of the nation’s food supply.
