Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana 2023

The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana is categorised into two segments: one for rural India and the other for urban India. The urban section, known as Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana, will be overseen by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA). The rural aspect, under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, will be managed by the Ministry of Rural Development.

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana Mission

This initiative aims to establish training centers, promote self-help groups (SHGs), and provide permanent shelter for homeless individuals in urban areas. This involves constructing residences for the homeless, street vendors, rag pickers, etc., fostering private and collective micro-construction in cities. The scheme intends to create job opportunities and boost income for the economically disadvantaged, covering the entire urban population in all 4041 cities and towns through the National Urban Livelihoods Mission under Deendayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana for urban regions.

National Rural Livelihood Mission

The objective of this mission is to alleviate poverty in rural areas by offering livelihood opportunities through community institutions. This scheme, initiated in 2011, aims to train 1 million rural individuals in collaboration with states. It operates across 4,459 blocks in 586 districts across 29 states and 5 union territories. In the fiscal year 2017-18, around 128,000 rural youth were trained, and 69,320 secured better-paying jobs.
