Documents Required For Legal Metrology Registration Process

The following is a list of the documents that are required for the legal metrology registration

  • Evidence of the applicant’s or their partner’s date of birth is required.
  • Photographs, proof of identity, and address verification documents are required from the applicant and any partners.
  •  A document is proving either ownership or rental of the intended property.
  • The model approval certificate was granted by the Director of Legal Metrology, Government of India, with reference to the proposed weighing and measuring device, if such a certificate is necessary under the Legal Metrology General Rules, 2011.
  • In the event that the company in question is a partnership business, a partnership deed is required.
  • Make a list of all of the devices and implements.
  • The No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pollution Control Board is required of all companies, particularly those located in the Taj Trapezium Zone.
  • an affidavit indicating that the applicant has not been convicted of a crime by any court, nor does any criminal case now involve the applicant that is ongoing in any court of law.
  • A sworn statement affirming that the applicant (or applicants) will abide by the legal requirements and the orders given by the Controller.
  • A copy of the registration for GST/VAT/CST.
  • Depending on the circumstances, a trade license or registration document of the business, municipality, factory, or shop may be required.
  • A replica of the PAN.

Important Guidelines for LMPC Certification

The following are some rules that merchants are required to follow in order to register their businesses throughout the process of importing and exporting commodities. In accordance with Section 47 of the Standing of Weights and Measures Act, 1976, guidelines are provided for the measurement of weight.

  • The application for the underlying registration has to be accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees, which should be paid payable to the “Pay and Accounts officer” at the Department of Consumer Affairs in New Delhi.
  • The list of objects that may be weighted OR measured is specified in the General Rules that come under the LMPC Act, and registration is only required for such items.
  • Within seven days of receiving the application, the Controller of Legal Metrology is required to return the same in the event that the application is found to be incomplete.
  • Within ten days of receiving the application, the Controller is obligated to provide the LMPC certificate to the applicant if the application is complete in every way.

Conclusion

A rule 27 of the Legal Metrology Packaged Commodity rules enacted by the Department of Consumer Affairs in India, anyone who imports pre-packaged goods or commodities in India is required to obtain an LMPC Registration Certificate prior to importing any pre-packaged goods or commodities in India. The application for the registration has to be submitted no later than ninety days after the importation process was first begun.
