Overview

In accordance with the Reserve Bank of India’s calendar, all private and public banks will remain closed on national and government holidays. The Government bank holidays in India are classified as State and Central Government holidays. The Negotiable Instruments Act, which was passed in 1881, also provides for real-time gross settlement holidays and off days for banks closing accounts.

The Reserve Bank of India oversees both NEFT and RTGS systems, which have been available 24×7 since December 14, 2020.
