Objectives And Features
Maharashtra Rojgar Hami Yojana has been started by the Government of Maharashtra. Through this scheme, employment will be provided to unemployed citizens of rural areas. All those citizens who are able to do physical labor will be able to get the benefit of this scheme. In the year 1977, the Employment Act was issued by the Government of Maharashtra with the objective of providing employment to the unemployed citizens. Two schemes are operated under the purview of this act. One of them is Maharashtra Rojgar Hami Yojana.
The main objective of this scheme is to provide employment to all the citizens living in rural areas. Through this scheme, 100 days of guaranteed employment is provided to the beneficiaries in a year, so that they can meet their daily needs. Beneficiaries will be able to get employment in the form of manual labor through this scheme. Through the Maharashtra Employment Guarantee Scheme, the citizens of the state will become empowered and self-reliant and their standard of living will also improve. The scheme is meant to especially benefit those families who do not have any means of income.

Categories Under Maharashtra Rojgar Hami Yojana
There are four categories under this scheme. They have been divided in terms of type of work available under the scheme. Let us take a look at those categories:
Category A:
- To raise and improve the groundwater level, construct water conservation and water storage.
- Water management works such as wide catchment area treatment, leveling, leveling of dams etc.
- Land development work on collective land
- Renovation of traditional water bodies including desilting of irrigation tanks and common water bodies.
- Micro and minor irrigation works and construction, renovation and maintenance of irrigation canals and drains
- Plantation work
Category B:
- Establishment of infrastructure for promotion of aquaculture along with fisheries in seasonal water bodies on public land.
- Setting up of basic facilities like poultry infrastructure, goat infrastructure, cattle shed, fodder for cattle and plow for water.
- Construction of houses sanctioned under Indira Awas Yojana or other schemes of State and Central Government.
- To develop fallow or barren land for cultivation.
- Livelihood enhancement through horticulture, sericulture, nursery and farm afforestation.
- Digging wells, farm ponds and other water storage structures along with land development.
Category C:
- Common Workshop Creation for Self Help Group Livelihood Activities
- Creation of sustainable infrastructure for organic and agricultural products
Category D:
- playground construction
- production of building materials
- Construction of Manure Storage Buildings for implementation of provisions of National Manure Security Act 2013.
- Construction of buildings at village and group level for Gram Panchayat, women self-help groups, unions, cyclone camps, Anganwadi centers, village markets and cemeteries.
- Emergency preparedness or restoration of roads or construction of other necessary public infrastructure including flood control and protection works at village and cluster level, provision of low-lying drainage system, deepening and repair of flood water channels, construction of drains
- Linking of village roads to metalled road network, construction of metalled roadways with side drains and potholes in the village
- Rural sanitation works like construction of individual household toilets, school toilets, Anganwadi toilets etc.
- Any other work that the Government may notify in this regard
Features Of The Scheme:
The following are the key features of this scheme:
- Through this scheme, employment guarantee will be provided for at least 100 days per family in every financial year.
- The primary responsibility of implementing the law will be that of the Gram Panchayat.
- The daily wage rate under this scheme will be fixed by the central government.
- Wages will be paid as per the rates fixed by the Central Government.
- The rate of laborers will be common for men and women.
- Wages will be paid within a maximum of 15 days after the work is completed.
- To get the benefit of Maharashtra Rojgar Hami Yojana, the registered laborer will have to work for at least 14 consecutive days.
- A minimum of 10 laborers are required to start work in the Gram Panchayat.
- The allocation of wages will be done in the Wage Bank or Post Office Savings Account.
- Employment will be made available in the 5 kilometer area of the village.
- Contractors will not be hired under this scheme.
- Under this scheme, at least 60% of the work at taluka and district level will be for unskilled workers.
- All the information related to Maharashtra Rojgar Hami Yojana 2023 will be made available on the office, gram panchayat and official website.
- Social audit will be done to ensure transparency of this scheme.
- The grievances of the beneficiaries of this scheme will also be redressed.
Facilities Provided To Laborers Under Maharashtra Rozgar Hami Yojana
The following facilities will be provided to the recruits under the scheme:
- Drinking water, first aid and care facilities for children below 6 years of age will be available for Karma cars.
- If the laborer or his children get hurt, then in this situation the entire expenditure will be borne by the government. Apart from this, 50% salary will also be provided to the worker. Financial assistance of ₹ 50,000 will also be provided in case of disability or death.
- In case the work is provided 5 km away from the rural area, the wage rate will be increased by 10%.
- In case employment is not provided then 25% of the daily wages will be provided as unemployment allowance.
Eligibility Of Maharashtra Employment Guarantee Scheme
The following is the eligibility criteria for applying for this scheme:
- The applicant must be a native of Maharashtra.
- Only the citizens living in rural areas are eligible to get the benefits of this scheme.
- Applicants must have passed the 12th standard.
- To get employment under this scheme, the minimum age of the applicant should be 18 years.
