Form ITR-7 - an Overview

The income tax form is a declaration that you file with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or the state income tax board. It includes information of your taxable income, earnings, expenses, and other benefits, as well as details on your tax refund or tax liability.

According to Section 139 (4A), all charitable and religious trusts, political parties, scientific research institutions, universities, colleges, and institutions, as well as Khadi and Village Industries, are required to file Form ITR 7. These organisations are required to submit the form in order to request the exemptions.

Eligibility to File Form ITR-7?

  • Any individual who receives income from property held in trust or under another legal obligation that is used exclusively or partially for charitable or religious purposes, or who receives income from voluntary contributions, if their total income exceeds the maximum amount that is exempt from income tax should file form ITR 7 adhering to Section 139(4A).
  • In accordance with Section 139 (4B), a political party must submit the form if its income is greater than the amount that is not subject to taxation.
  • Organisation like scientific research associations health industry universities or institution as referred under Section 10 (23A) should file the return
  • Educational institution providing income or loss statement under Section 139 4D
  • Every college or university must submit a return under Section 139(4D), and anyone who cannot must not submit an income tax returns online or report a loss under any other provision of this section
  • Section 139, return (4E), where each and every business should provide the returns of income or loss under the various provisions of this particular section. In doing so, all applicable provisions of this Act will apply, to the extent possible
  • Under Section 139, return (4F), every investment fund mentioned in Section 115UB that is not required to provide a return of income or loss pursuant to any other provisions of this Section shall provide the return of income in respect of its income or loss in each and every preceding year, and all provisions of this Act, to the extent possible, apply as if such return were required to be furnished pursuant to Subsection (1).

Deadline to file Form ITR 7?

Depending on the results of the account audit, a different deadline for filing Form ITR-7 may apply. Other tax officers who do not need to audit their accounts should file as of 31 July 2022. If your business needs auditing then you should file form ITR 7 by 31 October 2022 for the financial year of 2022-2023.
