FSSAI is the food corporation of India that provides mandatory food licenses in Lakshadweep and the rest of India.     The State Government issues State Licenses to a Food Business Operator(FBO) if present or performs operations in only one state. FBOs like SMEs, retailers, transporters, distributors, marketers, etc must secure the license from the State Government. It is mostly issued to units with an annual turnover of more than Rs.12 lakhs.

    FSSAI Basic Registration

    The FSSAI Basic Registration Lakshadweep or FSSAI Registration Lakshadweep is issued by the State Government. The FSSAI registration in Lakshadweep is mostly issued to those units that have an annual turnover of less than Rs.12 lakhs. FBOs like small-sized manufacturers, marketers, transporters, distributors, retailers, etc who are eligible according to the minimum requirements will be registered into the system.

    How to register/ renew a Food License in Lakshadweep

    The FSSAI registration in Lakshadweep and food license acquisition is a fundamental step carried out by every food business owner. This has to be done before starting the business itself. The FSSAI license must also be renewed promptly to eliminate any penalties of legal consequences.

    The validity of a food license can range from 1-5 years. The Lakshadweep food authority license fees for registration and renewal may differ based on the license tenure. To obtain a renewal license, the food business owner must apply for renewal 30 days before the expiry date.

    The following steps are followed while registering for a food license in Lakshadweep.

  • FSSAI Lakshadweep registration is initiated with the submission of Form A to the Department of Food and Safety.
  • The application is either accepted or rejected by the department within 7 days.
  • On acceptance of the application, the departments provide a registration certificate with a unique registration number, along with the applicant’s photograph.
  • Renewal Procedure of FSSAI License in Lakshadweep

    To receive an FSSAI License renewal, the application for the license renewal can be filed using Form-B. It is applied to the concerned authority of the Central License or the State License based on the business’s eligibility criteria.

    The application will be self-attested by the business owner conforming to the rules, regulations, and bylaws of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. It also indicates that the business owner will oblige to the hygiene and sanitary rules and will practice the same, as per registration and license regulations. This is accompanied with the other required documents and the renewal fee for the FSSAI license fees in Lakshadweep.

    Following this, the inspection of the business process will be done by the FSSAI authorities. Post confirmation of the proper process being carried out, the renewal license is issued.

    If not intimidated about the renewal within 60 days from the inspection process, the business owner can commence the business operations and won’t be facing any legal consequences due to it.

    The Food Business Operator (FBO) must furnish all the below mentioned do to avail the food license.

  • Application form
  • Layout sketch of the business processing unit
  • Certificate or Plan for Food Safety Management System
  • Detailed List of Directors/Partners/Executives along with their contact details.
  • NOC obtained from the municipality or other relevant authorities
  • Manufacturers’ NOC and license copy (applied for re-labellers and re-packers)
  • Premise Ownership Proof
  • Nomination of personnel by a company and board resolution.
  • An Authorization letter with the details of the person nominated by the manufacturer and entitled powers (if any)
  • Details of the alternative person nominated in the absence of the original entitled person.
  • Plan for recall, when necessary.
  • If FBO is a manufacturing unit, then the following are to be attached as well;
  • Attachment of the list of food categories to be manufactured is required.
  • Report on the chemical state of water to be used in the food ingredients while manufacturing. Their bacteriologic and pesticide residue state of the water is also reported.
  • Proprietorship Affidavit (if FBO is a proprietorship firm).
  • MOA and AOA of the firm (if FBO is a company).
  • Deed of Partnership (if FBO is a partnership firm).
  • Certificate issued by the Ministry of Tourism (if it's a hotel business).
  • Turnover proof or self-declaration of the total number of vehicles in the business (applicable for traders and transporters).
