Has The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Kept No Records  for CAA Applications?

CAA provides citizenship to undocumented migrants from six non-Muslim communities, who entered India before 31 December 2014,

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) stated that they don't maintain records of Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) applications.

An RTI query sought information on the total number of applications received under the CAA.

MHA responded that there's no provision to maintain such records as per the Citizenship Act, 1955 and CAA, 2019.

Home Minister Amit Shah had previously mentioned that "lakhs and crores" would benefit from CAA, while an Intelligence Bureau report suggested around 31,000 immediate beneficiaries.
