Documents required to apply for renewal of an expired FSSAI licence

There are two types of FSSAI licence, one is the basic FSSAI licence and the other is the state-wise FSSAI licence, where the business operations take place.

Renew FSSAI licence, the following documents are required:

  1. Two copies of the latest passport-sized photograph of the applicant.
  2. One government-approved identification proof of the applicant. (E.g.: Voter’s ID, Passport, etc.)
  3. Photocopy of a valid PAN Card of the applicant.
  4. One government authorised Address Proof. (E.g.: Rental agreement, electricity bill, etc.)
  5. If the applicant is the owner of the said property, then it is necessary to provide the property papers. Also, with the copy of Property papers.
  6. If the applicant is a tenant of the said property, then it is necessary to provide a copy of the Rent Agreement and No Objection Certificate letter from the Landlord.

For the renewal of a state-wise or the central FSSAI licence, you will need the following documents:

  1. Concerning a property in question, the list of proprietor, members, partners or directors of the society. The list should correspond with the addresses and contact details of the persons so listed.
  2. Anyone government-approved identification proof of the applicant. It could either be a Voter ID card or a Passport.
  3. Photocopy of a valid PAN Card of the applicant.
  4. Any one government authorised Address Proof. It could either be the telephone or electricity bill.
  5. If the applicant is the owner of the said property, then it is necessary to furnish two copies of the property papers. Copy of Property papers.
  6. If the applicant is a tenant of the said property, then it is necessary to furnish a copy of the Rent Agreement and No Objection Certificate letter from the Landlord.
  7. If the property is under the control of a partnership, then a copy of the Memorandum of Agreement or Association of Agreement or the Partnership Deed, as the case may be.
  8. In case it is a co-operative, then you should produce the copy of the certificate obtained under the Co-operative Act, 1861.
  9. If the property is under the control of a distributor, then a copy of the No Objection Certificate from the manufacturer or the Municipality or local body should be furnished.
  10. A copy of the E-Code document issued by DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade)
  11. Form IX filled mentioning the nomination of persons by a Company along with the Board Resolution.

Procedure to Renew An Expired FSSAI Licence:

Step 1: File the Form A or Form B as per the eligibility of the Food Business Operator. Form A and Form B are the forms consisting of the business activities of the FBO. These forms are to be accompanied with the self-attested declaration by the applicant. The declaration should address the compliance with the guidelines of the Food Safety and Standard Act. Attach the documents given in the prior section along with the instructed forms.

Step 2: The second step is the verification. The authorities would examine the application submitted. And they will arrange for an inspection at the mentioned business premises if it is required. The verification will take place to make sure that the details are accurate, authentic and true to the knowledge of the applicant.

Step 3: The third step is the stage of completion. The food licence will be issued to the FBO, based on the verification result. It will take a maximum of 60 days for the licence to reach the applicant. If the applicant does receive the food licence after 60 days, then he/she can raise questions on it.
