ITR Filing Issues You Should Avoid While Filing Tax Returns

The article gives a clear understanding of the ITR Filing Issues procedure related to the filing of ITR returns. It takes the reader through the stringent process details associated with a successful IT return.

New Income Tax Portal and its Subsequent Issues

Many people needed help with using the new Income Tax website. They needed help finding the right forms, getting the right documents, and getting help when needed. This caused a lot of stress and worry because they couldn’t meet important deadlines. But now, the ITR Filing issues have been fixed, so you can learn how to use the website without any problems.

Issues Reported in the New Income Tax Portal

The government launched a new income tax e-filing portal to improve convenience and efficiency on 7 June. We wanted to make the user interface and services better. Since its launch, the new Portal has been plagued with technical ITR Filing Issues users can’t fix—inability to file an ITR, ITR e-verification, PAN registration, etc. As the filing fee due date for the users had passed, the Portal could not calculate the ITR online filing fees for them either.

  1. ITR Filing

For some users, Form ITR1 and Form ITR4 don’t appear on the menu. The Income Tax portal lets you file these ITRs online. Use the offline utility if you’re having trouble with the Portal.

  1. ITR Forms and ITR-V

There have been complaints regarding the inability of the Portal to allow users to download ITR-V and ITR forms. This issue was primarily due to internet connectivity issues; therefore, users are advised to download the forms when website traffic may be lower or to try all their internet connection options.

  1. Download Excel for ITR Online Filing

Several users have reported difficulties downloading Excel or the Java offline utility for their ITR forms. This facility has been discontinued, and an improved JSON utility has been launched on the Portal.

Here are the steps you need to follow in order to download it.

  • Go to ‘Downloads’.
  • Open Income Tax Returns.
  • Choose an assessment year.
  • Pick ‘Common Offline Utility’ depending on the ITR forms you’d like to acquire.
  1. ITR e-Verification

During the process of filing an ITR, e-verification is very critical. When users click on ‘e-Verify’, they do not appear to receive any response. You can overcome this obstacle by following the following steps.

  • Please log out of the ITR portal.
  • Please click on the ‘Our Services’ link
  • Please select ‘e-Verify‘.
  • You will need to enter your PAN number, assessment year, acknowledgment number, and mobile number.
  • After completing the e-verification process, you will receive an OTP.
  1. Create a Signature File

We regret to inform you that the service for creating a signature file for registering for Digital Signature Certificates has been discontinued. Alternatively, you may download emBridge, a new DSC management utility, from the Income Tax portal.

  1. Form 26AS Details

A number of users have complained about the lack of automatic accumulation of details from Form 26AS when filing ITRs. If you are experiencing the same difficulty, you can download Form 26AS and manually enter the information.

  1. Logging In

There have been some questions regarding the disappearance of log-in data following the launch of the new Portal; however, this is nothing to be concerned about. If you are logged into the old Portal, your data and details have been carried over to the new one, and you will not be required to register once more in order to access ITR e-filing.

  1. Grievance Redressal

Many grievances posted on the Income Tax portal have received responses such as ‘N/A’. If a response such as this appears on your screen after submitting a grievance on the Portal, please check your email to confirm that the grievance has been communicated to the grievance redressal team, regardless of what appears on your screen. You can rest assured that your grievance has been addressed if you receive an acknowledgement email.

ITR Filing Issues- How to Fix the Income Tax Portal Yourself

Upon experiencing an error or freeze on the Income Tax portal beyond the described above, please follow these basic troubleshooting steps before proceeding further.

  • Initially, you should close all tabs other than the ITR e-filing page, uninstall all apps running in the background, pause app/file downloads, and reload the ITR e-filing page.
  • Try quitting Chrome or force-closing it before reopening it and loading the page again. It is always possible to reopen other tabs once the ITR e-filing process has been completed.

1. Refunding Facilities

Getting a refund is easy if you file your ITR online through the Income Tax portal. Your refund will be transferred to your bank account as soon as you upload your bank info.

2. Virtual Verification

In the past, ITRs were sent to Bengaluru for verification, which took a lot of time. By using e-filing, e-verification can be done online, which speeds up the process.

3. Document Access

Individuals who file ITRs online can access the documents they submit. They can also access them anytime and anywhere, unlike filing an ITR manually.

4. Economical

The costs of paying a professional to compute and calculate your ITRs would be incurred if you filed an ITR manually. The Income Tax portal allows you to compute and fill out forms without incurring costs.

5. Status Updates

In manual ITR filing, you can’t see how far your application has progressed. The Income Tax portal closes that gap by giving you full-time access to your Income Tax return filing progress.

6. Accuracy

Calculations and computations done manually could be error-prone. This mechanism is a major benefit of using the Income Tax portal for e-filing your ITR since there’s no room for mistakes.

7. Time efficiency

You can e-file your ITR in no time. Manually filing an ITR would mean visiting the Income Tax Department and filling out tedious forms.
