What Is The Process Of Aadhaar Enrolment?

The process of Aadhaar enrolment involves the following simple steps;

1. Visiting an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre
2. Filling and submitting the application form
3. Providing the necessary supporting documents
4. Capturing the required demographic and biometric data
5. Collecting the acknowledgement slip with the Enrolment ID for further correspondence
6. Receiving the Aadhaar card at your residential address within ninety days

The Aadhaar enrolment process is free of cost as the government wants all eligible citizens to sign up for the Aadhaar as soon as possible. Also, you have the option to visit any Aadhaar Enrolment centre, removing any geographic constraints. However, applicants must take the following documents with them to complete the verification process.

In case applicants do not have any formal ID proof, they may submit a Certificate of Identity or Address issued by any Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar/MP or MLA. If there exist no viable documents, the applicants may take the help of Introducers to enrol for the Aadhaar card. All such Introducers must be notified and registered under the Registrar. Hence, the three methods of Aadhaar enrolment are as follows;

1. Document-Based wherein applicants submit valid documents as proof of identity and address.
2. Head Of Family-Based wherein the head of the family introduces the family members by using documents that serve as a proof of their relationship.
3. Introducer Based wherein a registered introducer helps the applicant enrol for the Aadhaar card.

What should applicants do after visiting the Enrolment Centre?

First and foremost, applicants must request for an Enrolment form from the executive at the Centre. They must then duly fill the form with all the required personal details. Ensure you double-check all the details presented to prevent any inaccuracies or mistakes which can create issues later. Afterwards, the applicants must provide their photographs, iris and fingerprint scans, which will all be taken at the Centre. The residents also have an option to review all the details provided and make edits if needed to prevent mistakes and errors. 

Once the request is submitted, the applicants will receive an acknowledgement slip that contains an enrolment number. Applicants may use this number to keep track of their application online through the UIDAI’s official website. Additionally, corrections concerning the enrolment data may be made within 96 hours of enrolment. To avail this service, the applicant must visit the enrolment centre along with the acknowledgement slip and request for the same.
