The Delhi High Court Rejected Google’s Appeal and Fines ₹1 Lakh

 Google appealed against the rejection of its patent application for ‘Managing Instant Messaging Sessions on Multiple Devices.’ The patent focused on enabling instant messaging sessions between devices and preventing duplication of conversations when users are inactive.

Google's application was rejected for lack of novelty and inventive step by the Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs.

 Justice Prathiba M Singh imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on Google for presenting wrong facts and for its failure to disclose information regarding the refusal of a patent by the European Patent Office (EPO).
