Established in 1993, the UTI Infrastructure Technology And Services Limited, better known as the UTIITSL are one of India’s most significant financial service providers. Owned by the Indian government, the UTIITSL offers several different types of technological and outsourcing services to the government departments throughout India. Additionally, the UTIITSL also helps with the issuing of the PAN card, which is a 10-digit alphanumeric code. The PAN card allows eligible taxpayers to file their IT returns and make high-value transactions in India. Let us now take a closer look at the UTIITSL PAN Card and the process of applying for one.

Applying for a PAN Card through UTIITSL

The Indian government allows eligible citizens and companies to apply for a PAN Card via both the NSDL and UTIITSL websites. Indian companies and citizens can use Form 49A to apply for a new PAN card by following the steps mentioned below;

  1. First and foremost, the applicant must visit the UTIITSL’s official website via this link.
  2. From the homepage, go to Indian Citizen>>PAN Card>>Click to Apply.

3. Applicants will now be redirected to a new page from where they must click on the Apply for new PAN Card option.

4. Next, choose the mode of PAN card required, either Physical or Digital, to proceed.

5. The applicant must now select the appropriate application status from the various options provided, including Individual, HUF, Company and so on.

6. Next, you will have to choose your mode, whether you wish for both a digital and physical PAN card or whether just an e-PAN will do.

7. Once you have made a choice, click on Submit to proceed.

8. The system will now generate a reference number which applications can use for future reference until an application number is generated. Click on Ok to proceed.

9. Once the form appears, fill it by providing all the required details, including applicant’s name, DoB, gender and contact details. 

10. Next, enter your Aadhaar number for verification and click on Next Step to proceed.

11. Applicants must now provide details regarding the supporting documents they will upload as their proof of identity, address and DoB.

12. Enter your contact details, including your mobile number, area code and email ID.

13. The next step involves entering your parents’ details, such as the father’s and mother’s name. Once completed click on Next Step to proceed.

14. Afterwards, enter details regarding your address and source of income.

15. Next, enter other details, such as AO Code and Type along with the Range Code and details of your representative assessee.

16. Applicants have to upload scanned copies of your supporting documents now as mentioned earlier. 

17. Click on Validation followed by Submit once you are done filling out the form.

18. Click on the Make Payment option to pay the required processing fees via Debit or Credit card, Net banking or DD.

19. Once you have made the payment successfully, click on Save and take a print out of the acknowledgement slip. 

20. Applicants then have to affix two photographs to this print-out and attach copies of their supporting documents in an envelope labelled APPLICATION FOR PAN – <<15-digit Acknowledgement number>>.

21. The applicant must send this envelope to the nearest UTIITSL office which is available on the UTIITSL’s website. They can then use the 15-digit acknowledgement number to track the status of their UTIITSL PAN Card application. In most cases, they will receive their PAN Card in around 15 working days.

Applying UTIITSL PAN Card Offline

  1. Download a copy of the PAN Card application form from the UTIITSL website or ask for one from the nearest TIN-Facilitation centre.
  2. Follow the instructions provided and fill out the form by providing all the required details. 
  3. After completing the form, submit the form and pay the required processing fees. The fees will amount to INR 107 if your communication address is within India and INR 1017 in case the address is in a foreign country. Additionally, if you have opted for the e-PAN option, then the processing fee comes up to INR 72.

After verification, the office will issue a UTIITSL PAN Card within 15 working days.

The applicant must ensure that the details on their supporting document must match perfectly with the details on their application. Any sort of mismatch will lead to their application getting rejected.

The UTIITSL offers two types of forms to apply for a PAN Card, and these are as follows;

Form 49A which applies to;

  1. Available to all Indian citizens, whether they be residents or Non-residents in India.
  2. All business entities, including Firms, companies, LLPs, Sole Proprietorships and NGOs incorporated and functioning in India.
  3. Minors and students who live in India

Form 49AA which applies to;

  1. Foreign nationals who work or pay their taxes in India.
  2. All entities, such as LLPs, Firms, Trusts, BOIs and companies registered outside India.
  3. Overseas Citizens of India and Non-Resident Entities  

Applicants who make use of Form 49AA must submit their passports, OCI and PIO cards. These documents will act as both a proof of identity and address.

UTIITSL PAN Card Structure

Every PAN card features a unique Permanent Account Number which eligible taxpayers can use to file their IT returns. Additionally, the Card also features certain specific details which do not change with time. Therefore, applicants must update their PAN card if there is a change in any of these details to ensure the PAN card remains a valid proof of identity. The PAN card of an individual features the following details;

  • Permanent Account Number
  • Applicant’s Full Name 
  • Cardholder’s Father’s name 
  • Date of Birth
  • Photograph 
  • Signature of the Card Holder

The PAN card of a business entity features the following details;

  1. Permanent Account Number
  2. Applicant’s Full Name 
  3. Date of Incorporation

The information listed on the Card is the same the applicant provides on their PAN card application form. The PAN card does not feature the card holder’s address as this may be subject to frequent change. Since the PAN card cannot list all the information about a company, the individual members of the company will have their personal card.

Kinds of UTIITSL PAN Cards

All tax-paying entities, both individuals and non-individuals must apply for a PAN card mandatorily as per the Income Tax Department’s rules. Here’s a quick look at the different kinds of UTIITSL PAN cards issued in India;

  1. For Individuals: To help the IT Department calculate the individual’s tax liability and to track their financial transactions.

What to Remember While Applying for a PAN Card

  1. Make sure all the details you provide in the form are the same as what is mentioned in the supporting documents you plan on submitting.
  2. To prevent rejection, make sure a magistrate or notary attests the thumb impression provided before submitting the form.
  3. Double-check all the details you have provided on the form and ensure everything is true and accurate.
  4. Fill the form using BLOCK letters and don’t overwrite or try to rectify anything already written to prevent loss of clarity.
  5. Do not use initials before the name in the name column as this will lead to disqualification of the form.
  6. In case you lose your PAN card or have damaged it heavily, you can apply for a duplicate card.
  7. Individuals who have a PAN card already should not apply for a second one as this is punishable under law.
