PF Withdrawal – How to withdraw PF amount online_

Do you have a PF account? If yes, then you should know how the money can be withdrawn from the PF account.

An employee can make partial withdrawals/advances from EPF deposits even at the time of employment in an organisation on certain circumstances – Education, marriage, medical purposes, repaying the home loan and purchasing or construction of a new house.

An employee needs to satisfy specific criteria for each type of partial withdrawal.

Guidelines for Partial Withdrawal of EPF Amount:

1. PF withdrawal for the purchase of House/Flat, construction of house including the acquisition of a site

Procedure for EPF Withdrawal Online

STEP 1:

Visit the UAN portal – https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/

STEP 2:

Login using UAN, Password and enter Captcha – Click on Sign In

STEP 3:

Click on Manage tab and select KYC from the drop-down. Verify your KYC details:

  1. Aadhaar Number
  2. Bank Account details
  3. Permanent Account Number (PAN)

STEP 4:

Click on Online Service tab and select Claim (Form 31, 19, 10C & 10D) from the drop-down menu

STEP 5:

Enter the last 4 digits on your Bank account number and click on Verify.

STEP 6:

After bank A/C number verification, Select YES and click of Proceed for Online Claim.

STEP 7:

In the claim form, select the type of claim you need under the tab – I want to apply for. 

In case you need PF Advance, select PF advance (Form-31) from the drop-down menu.

STEP 8:

Enter all the relevant details against the given column.

  1. The purpose for which advance is required
  2. Amount of advance required
  3. Employee Address
  4. Upload scanned copy of cheque/ Passbook (JPEG format)

Once you complete the PF withdrawal claim process, it will take 15-20 days to get the claim amount in your bank account.

Tax on EPF Withdrawal:

No tax is levied on EPF account on the amount deposited and withdrawn. But, to get this tax exemption certain conditions has to be followed.

  1. TDS is deducted on EPF withdrawal before 5 years of employment.
  2. 10% of TDS is deducted if PAN is furnished and 34.608% is taxed if PAN is not furnished.
  3. No TDS is deducted if the withdrawal amount is less than Rs 50, 000.

TDS exemptions on EPF Advance withdrawal:

  1. Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) is not deducted if the employee is terminated from employment due to Company lockouts, retrenchments, employee layoffs, etc., could be any of the reasons.
  2. TDS is not deducted if the employee unable to continue in the job due to some serious illness or mental disability.
