The advent of self-government in India, post the colonial exploitation and the historic national freedom movement, is a watershed moment of our civilization. While the self-government granted in the last century meant the rule of Indians through an elected government, “self-government” has been given a new meaning in this 21st century. Empowering citizens with the freedom to enjoy essential state services, has been one element of the new self-government that India envisages for itself. In line with this central tenet, the Telangana government has launched the Meeseva Platform portal.

What is the Meeseva Portal?

It is a one-stop destination for citizens to avail of all-inclusive documentation services of the state without having to visit governmental offices. This platform also won the silver award at the 21st National e-Governance conference. In this post, we highlight the advantages of the online Meeseva platform and delineate the procedure to avail of this unique service. 

What does the Meeseva platform aim to achieve? 

MeeSeva in Telugu means “at your service”. The MeeSeva online platform has been built by the State Information Technology department in collaboration with multiple data processing departments such as Telangana State Data Centre, State Service Delivery Gateway, and the State-Wide Area Network. This centralized platform then ensures real-time communication with other state departments such as Agriculture, Education, Industries department, etc. This integrated platform ensures that all digitally available data is collated from such multiple departments and assigned to one data center that can easily provide these services to all beneficiaries within the state. 

Andhra Pradesh’s government also offers a similar integrated data services portal called MeeSeva. However, in this post, we have only focused on procedures of the Telangana MeeSeva portal. 

What are the advantages of an integrated MeeSeva Portal?

There are distinct advantages that flow to both the state as well as its residents, from developing a helpful platform such as the MeeSeva database. These are – 

  1. Universal and easily accessible data services such as Aadhar, Residence proof, Income, Land Records, etc. 
  2. Non-discriminatory delivery of all services of the State, to everyone regardless of caste, community, and economic backgrounds.

What are the services that can be availed by a user on the MeeSeva platform? 

Presented as a one-stop solution for all documentation work, there are many services that the platform offers – from simple services like Aadhar card, bill payments to specific services such as farmers registration to state agriculture schemes, getting an employment card issued, birth and death registration, student certificates, etc. A complete list of departments that can be accessed at the MeeSeva online platform are –

Accessing the MeeSeva platform 

The official website can be accessed from the link. After loading the web page, one can access various tabs such as Search for Services – where users can type their desired service, from a total of 53 services across 40 departments that are currently provided online. The other options are searching for one’s application status for a request made previously. 

What all documents are required for new user registration 

The MeeSeva website requires registration of its new users to authenticate their identity. This can be by uploading a set of documents and entering relevant details. The documents required are 

  • Aadhar Card 
  • Mobile number 
  • Bank account details 
  • Photograph 
  • Residence proof 

What is the registration process for New Users on the MeeSeva portal?

Residents of the state of Telangana can easily access a host of government services of more than forty departments and about 600 private services using the MeeSeva portal with a simple registration. The process to create an account to start availing these services is as follows- 

Step 1

You can access the new user registration tab by clicking on login, at the MeeSeva portal home page, and then clicking on the New User tab on the bottom right. You can also access this page directly by clicking on the link – 

Step 2

Create a login ID and a password of your choice and re-enter the password to confirm. 

Step 3

You will need access to your mobile phone while creating an ID as a one time password that requires to authenticate your identity. In addition to this, you will have to keep the following details ready -email, address – followed by selecting your state, district, and area pin-code. 

Step 4

You should upload additional documents after this registration process. It is only after the documents verification and the account will be activated. 

How to use the MeeSeva platform once you’ve created an account

We have already discussed the multitude of services that the MeeSeva portal provides. You can access these with the click of a button while being in the comfort of home. Moreover, this can be by logging in on the official MeeSeva portal link. One must be careful to choose the “Citizen/Industry” option while entering the Login ID and Password. 

After logging in, the services can choose and proceed with it. Additionally, every request for document validation or payment, etc will assign a MeeSeva certificate Application number. Moreover, it is this number that can be used to know what status your application process is at.  

Rejection of application

If an application is in rejection by an officer erroneously,  the user can request the reopening of the application by using the same application number. Additionally, this will ensure fresh consideration of the request. However, one must know that certificates can also have cancellation by the officer issuing them. 

What are Category A and Category B services offered by the MeeSeva portal? 

Category A refers to the service requests that need no additional document or annexures. Additionally, these can be directly given by the MeeSeva center and includes requests such as – Income certificate, birth and death certificates, duplicate copies of residence, etc. 

Category B services require additional documentation, information, and furnishing of proof by the applicant. After the completion of the documents, they are readily available on the MeeSeva to integrate the platform and can get a print option at the physical MeeSeva kiosks as well.

The MeeSeva platform provides resolution for technical difficulties through online on multiple modes that can have access as mentioned below – 

Call center help – The MeeSeva call center that can be accessed at – 040-48560012 or 1100/ 18004251110. 

Email – Help can also be sought by writing to the official support ID at meesevasupport@telangana.gov.in

WhatsApp Support – A user can also submit a request by sending a WhatsApp message at the numbers 9121006471 or 9121006472.
