How to do IEC online application

Here is the step-by-step process to apply for IEC Code

STEP 1: Visit the online portal of DGFT. Click on the  ‘Apply for IEC’ tab.

STEP 2: You will be prompted to an online IEC application form where you will need to fill up your details (Name, mobile number, email ID, etc). An OTP will be sent to your mobile number. Enter the OTP in the space provided and click the ‘Submit’ button.

STEP 3:  In the resultant page, you will need to submit details related to your business such as establishment date, PAN, account details, etc. Moreover, after completing, click ‘Submit’ to proceed

STEP 4:   In this step, you will need to pay the requisite IEC application fee. You can make the payment through electronic fund transfer.

STEP 5: After successful payment, you will need to upload the digital copies of the documents required.

STEP 6:  In this step, you will be asked to submit the completed IEC apply online form. On successful submission, an Ecom Reference Number will appear on the screen.

STEP 7:  Take a print of the completed form of the IEC Code. You need to submit it to the DGFT office having jurisdiction in your area.

STEP 8:  Further, on successful verification of your credentials, your IEC will be issued within 3 to 7 days.

What is the application fee of IEC in India?

  1. No fee for submitting the Aayaat Niryaat Form
  2. No fee for filing the application form at DGFT
  3. Further, Rs 1499 if you have DSC or your Aadhaar links to your mobile number. DSC is a must if you do  not have Aadhaar linked to your registered mobile number
  4. A nominal professional fee of Rs 500 is directs by the Government

What are the benefits of an IEC application for you?

  1. The IEC registration opens opportunities for traders to venture into the global market.
  2. IEC has lifetime validity. You do not need to renew it periodically.

  • Further, if you are undertaking the export for personal reasons and the same will not connect to manufacture, trade and manufacture.
  • Additionally, if you are exporting vegetables or goods to Nepal and a  single consignment does  not exceed the value of Rs 25,000
  • If you are not dealing in export of organisms, special chemicals, materials, types of equipment & technologies (As listed in Appendix – 3, Schedule 2 of ITC)
