IEC is Import and Export Code. It is a 10-digit number that is the registration number issued by the Director-General of Foreign Trade or DGFT, Government of India. This registration number is an indication that your business is registered and you can do the business with ease. Moreover, there are certain benefits that the Government of India gives to the registered companies, and if you have the IEC, then you can avail these benefits.  Another noticeable feature of IEC is that once you have registered the company, you don’t need to renew the licence. It has lifetime validity.
