How to do PF withdrawal if you need money during COVID-19

Are you facing financial exigencies due to the ongoing lockdown necessitated by the Coronavirus outbreak?

Are you finding it difficult to get any of your claims settled and retrieve the money you want?

Well, your worries are over, if you are an EPFO subscriber!

Yes, the EPFO has announced that you can file online for your PF withdrawal and your claims will be processed on priority(within 72 hours), as per their special Coronavirus Withdrawal Scheme. According to the amended rules, a member can withdraw up to 75% of the credit balance in his account or 3 times his Basic and DA, whichever is lower.

Eligibility criteria to avail this new scheme

  • You must activate your UAN (Universal Account Number)
  • The authorities should verify your Aadhaar to link to the UAN
  • Your bank account, along with the IFSC Code must be in sync with the UAN

How to withdraw from your PF corpus online as per the amended rules?

  1. Visit the EPFO e-Sewa portal for members
  2. Login to your designated account with the help of your UAN and password
  3. Click ‘Online Services’ and select your claim (Form 10 C, 10 D, 19 and 31)
  4. The resultant page will show your details such as name, DoB, bank account details and the last 4 digits of your Aadhar
  5. Enter the last 4 digits of your account number and click ‘Verify’
  6. A pop-up will ask you for a ‘Certificate of undertaking’
  7. Post verification of your bank account number, click ‘Proceed for online claim’
  8. Select ‘PF Advance (Form 31)’ from the drop-down box
  9. Select your purpose of withdrawal as ‘Outbreak of pandemic (COVID-19)’ from the drop-down box
  10. Mention the amount required in the space provided
  11. Upload the scanned copy of your cheque and enter your valid address
  12. You will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. Enter the OTP in the space provided.
  13. Once you submit the OTP successfully, your claim request will get submitted.
  14. Upon successful verification by EPFO, your claim will be settled and the money will be credited to your account.

Please note:

  • You or your employer do not need to submit any documents/certificates
  • You can avail of the benefit via the EPFO Umang App as well.
