How to Check Aadhaar Card Status Online

The easiest way to check your Aadhaar Card Status is to do it online, from the comfort of your home. However, to do so, you will need your enrolment number and a registered mobile number.

  1. First and foremost, to check Aadhaar delivery and application status, you must go to the official website of UIDAI.

  2. A box will pop up asking you to enter your Enrolment ID to check the Aadhaar status. The EID is a 14-digit unique code which may be found from your acknowledgement slip.

Retrieve Lost EID To Check Aadhaar Card Status

If you have misplaced your acknowledgement slip, can’t remember your EID or don’t remember what it is, you can check your Aadhaar status without the EID as well. Here’s a look at how you can retrieve your EID online using your registered mobile number.

  • Go to the official UIDAI website to retrieve your lost EID number- 
  • You can also use the same page to find your Aadhaar number in case you misplace your card or lose your copy.
  • On the page, provide details such as email ID, registered mobile number, name and an OTP which will be sent to your mobile number.

  • Enter the OTP and click on Verify, along with the CAPTCHA code.
  • After successful verification, you will receive your Enrolment number on your registered mobile number and email ID respectively.
  • Once you have the EID, you can use the steps given above to check your Aadhaar Card status.
  • Another way to receive an OTP for verification is to use the Time-Based OTP, or TOTP through the m-Aadhaar application (aadhaar app). 

Check Aadhaar Card Update Status

If you have placed a request to update your address on the Aadhaar, you will receive an Update Request Number, better known as a URN. This is a 14-digit unique code that is sent over an SMS to your registered mobile number to allow you to track the update status of the Aadhaar. Here is how you can check the Aadhaar Update Status using your URN.

  1. Visit the following UIDAI website –

  4. Once you are done with the verification, click on Check Status.
  5. In doing so, a box will come up with details regarding your Aadhaar status.

How To Check Aadhaar Card Status Using Mobile Number

To check the status of your Aadhaar using your registered mobile number, do the following;

  1. Send an SMS in the following format to 51969

             SMS Format: UID STATUS <<14 digit enrolment number>>

2. If the generation of the Aadhaar is completed, the user will receive an SMS to the same number citing your Aadhaar number.

3. In case the process of Aadhaar generation is incomplete, the sender will receive an SMS containing details regarding the status of the Aadhaar.

Check Aadhaar Update Status Via India Post

After your Aadhaar Card has been generated, it is dispatched to your residential address through the Indian Postal service. The process takes around 90 days or three months in most cases. To check the status of your generated Aadhaar card through the Indian Post, do the following;

  1. Visit India Post’s official portal or website.
  2. When the UIDAI dispatches your Aadhaar, they will allow you certain consignment details.
  3. Enter these consignment details which you can also obtain from the UIDAI website on submitting your Aadhaar number or URN.
  4. Once you submit these details, the website will display details regarding your consignment on the screen.
  5. You can also check the delivery status by using your Aadhaar number from any India Post branch.

Check Aadhaar Status Using Phone Call

In case you don’t have access to the internet, you can make use of UIDAI’s toll-free 1947 number to check your Aadhaar status. Here’s how you can do so;

  1. Call 1947 and wait for the IVR to start asking for your request.
  2. First, choose a preferred language you would like the service to continue in, and the options available are as follows;
  • Hindi – 1
  • English – 2
  • Kannada – 3
  • Malayalam – 4
  • Tamil – 5
  • Telugu – 6
  • Others – 7
  1. In case you have an EID, press 1 and else Press 2.
  2. Pressing 3 will let you know about the status of any complaints filed, whereas 4 will prompt you about the various benefits of having an Aadhaar.
  3. Choose 1 to proceed.
  4. Press 2 to go to the menu regarding Aadhaar updates. At this stage, you can press 9 if you wish to speak to a UIDAI representative yourself. 
  5. Next, press 1 to learn how to do an Aadhaar update and to check your request status, press 2.
  6. To choose how you want to check the status, press 1 if you have a URN and 2 if you don’t.
  7. If you go with option 1, enter your 14-digit URN to receive the status update.
  8. If you opt for option 2, you will go directly to a UIDAI representative who will help you find your update status.
